Chemist

Job Purpose:

Conducting general chemical testing in NELAP accredited laboratory using EPA approved methods; maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies, sample preparation, and data analysis.  

Duties:

-
Determine environmental issues by developing and completing analytical tests; analyzing and synthesizing data derived from soil and water samples; maintaining control charts.

-Resolve environmental issues by researching, analyzing, selecting, and applying chemical concepts, approaches, techniques, and criteria; reviewing open issues and action items; contributing information to team meetings and reports.

-Maintain and improve quality results by developing and completing quality assurance tests; following and enforcing standards; studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes.

-Ensure operation of analytical equipment by calibrating equipment; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

-Keep chemical supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.

-Prepare environmental reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends; entering data and generating reports and presentations.

-Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging chemical technologies and practices; participating in educational opportunities and professional organizations; reading professional publications; maintaining personal network

Skills/Qualifications:

Entry-level applicants with a Bachelors degree in chemistry or related science must demonstrate a high GPA and strong work ethic.
